We are seeking for a Senior Business Consultant to collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their specific requirements. The focus of this position is to work closely with the clients to get an understanding of their business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates. The position would also help with new opportunities with regards to understanding the business requirements and creating functional response for proposals.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with project sponsors, business owners and end users in the client organization to understand business and project objectives. Conduct stakeholder and end user interviews, workshops, and surveys for identifying business needs
  • Understand the overall business dynamics, strategic objectives, IT landscape and organization culture of the client organization and identify the system’s fit in the ecosystem
  • Plan, estimate, define scope of the business analysis phase and take complete ownership of the Requirement and Design phases until completion.
  • Identify, assess, and document business requirements, factor business priorities, and advise business on options, risks, and costs
  • Conduct a feasibility analysis of possible solutions in consultation with technical architects and perform impact analysis of the proposed solution
  • Conduct requirement walkthroughs, gather feedback, resolve conflicts, build consensus and refine the solution based on the gathered inputs
  • Develop requirement specifications in the format determined by the chosen project methodology and engagement scope which could include business requirements document, Design documents, scope matrix, use cases, sequence diagrams, process models, workflow diagrams, UAT plan etc.
  • Create prototypes in form of sketches and wireframes using basic usability principles
  • Work with cross-functional team of usability/user experience analysts and visual designers to design effective and compelling user-experience
  • Work with quality assurance team to ensure that requirements documentation can be easily translated into suitable test cases and plans leading to full test coverage of the system
  • Support the development and quality teams in understanding and assimilating the requirements
  • Assist with High Level Design Documents and help the team with functional understanding.
  • Scoping and defining new business opportunities

Major responsibilities:

Project Management
Manage various critical aspects of a project: scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, risks & communication.
Manage timely, high-quality, & cost-effective service delivery to the client
Identify business needs of the client, act as an interface between the technical team and the client
Create project plan to track progress, plan timelines and share with client
Work with the Architect and Technical Lead to prioritize and track new functionality and ongoing releases.
Provide support during Validation and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phases with the client team to ensure all business requirements are met
Provide regular status updates to stakeholders on project progress.
Manage project dependencies and critical path, track project timelines and milestones.
Work with QA and Documentation teams to ensure success of the total project.

Resource Management
Optimize resource allocation, ramp-up and ramp-downs
Ensure smooth induction of resources in project
Manage team, allocate task, manage schedule, and monitor progress regularly
Reward and recognize performance
Provide motivation and direction to the team for successful completion of tasks
Delegate responsibility appropriately and empower team members to deliver results

Ensure that each team member has adequate skills and knowledge on technology, project management and software engineering processes

Communication & Collaboration
Be the single point of contact (SPOC) for various support groups
Map out communication protocol and the points of communication between the client and partners
Facilitate regular communication and coordination involving client team with the rest of the development team and answer questions related to project progress, performance, and decisions
Provide regular status updates to the client via emails, scheduled status meetings, ad-hoc discussions etc.

Risk Management
Manage and mitigate project risks – conduct a risk assessment for the project using the governance guidelines and report an assessment of project health and impending risks
Identify and implement risk mitigation actions
Monitor risks, develop and execute risk mitigation plan at completion of every major milestone including project closure
Change Management
Follow the change management process to review and accept changes affecting scope, timing, cost, and/or quality, as required and get them signed off from the client

Quality Management
Ensure the quality of the deliverable and client satisfaction
Understand the expectations of various stakeholders and seeks to satisfy them: client, users, governance group, senior management, team, support groups
Maintain overall schedule, timeliness of the team’s deliverable

Objective: Maintains respectful, effective and efficient relationships with internal stakeholders and at job site meetings with Developers, Clients, Architects, General Contractors, Sub Trades and Suppliers.  Ensures the quality of materials and workmanship meet or exceed standards identified in specifications and construction drawings.  Attends site meetings and provides feedback and reports to the appropriate key players involved.

Responsibilities: The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Attend site meetings
  • Serve as main point of contact for the builder for any project-related questions/requests
  • Understand project specifications and objectives
  • Proactively identify potential issues
  • Report on milestone dates and deliverables
  • Respond to field issues and questions with engineering and other resources as required
  • Investigate claims promptly and resolve them fairly
  • Proactive approach to change orders
  • Support and engage in a collaborative work environment
  • Liaise with Architect, Client, Contractor, Owner, Specialty Consultants, Project Manager, Job Captain and Project Engineer
  • Complete time critical reports including Request for Information, Contemplated Revisions, Change Orders, Field Review, Pricing Review, Progress Claim Review
  • Issue and sign off on Site Deficiency Reports, verify and accept As Built Drawings and Operational and Maintenance Manuals and ensure all required information has been received prior to issuance of Closing Letters
  • Provide customer service levels that meet or exceed customers’ expectations
  • Actively work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Overtime as required

Education & Experience:

  • Educational or trade background in electrical design
  • Design background in building technology is a definite asset
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in building General Reviews
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables
  • Ability to communicate and work well with other departments

Technical Abilities:

  • Candidates must have a good working knowledge of current construction practices, including working drawing production and construction reviews, as well as specifications, contracts and consultant agreements.
  • Experience and knowledge of building lighting, power and systems is a must
  • Mechanical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire protection systems is an asset
  • AutoCAD and REVIT drawing review experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite tools (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
